For three remarkable decades, Ed Wallace’s “Wheels” was the definitive voice of automotive expertise in Dallas. He wasn’t just a radio host; he was a trusted advisor, a source of straight talk, and a friend to countless listeners.
Behind the scenes, the story went even deeper. John Ingram, a local car dealer, was a fixture on “Wheels” for over 20 years, forging a strong professional and personal bond with Ed. And Don? His friendship with Ed stretches back to Don’s early days at 23, making him a part of the “Wheels” family for the entire 30-year run. Combined, Don and John’s history with Ed totals a staggering 73 years of shared stories, automotive insights, and genuine camaraderie.
When Ed decided to retire, leaving a void in Dallas’s automotive airwaves, Don and John knew they couldn’t let his legacy fade. They felt a responsibility to the community Ed had cultivated and a desire to continue the tradition of honest, informed automotive discussions.
And so, “Cruise Control with Don and John” was born. This isn’t just a replacement; it’s a continuation, a tribute to Ed’s dedication and a promise to carry on his work with the same passion and integrity. We’re bringing you the same expert knowledge, the same engaging conversations, and the same commitment to serving the Dallas automotive community.
Join us as we navigate the roads ahead, honoring the past while embracing the future. Welcome to Cruise Control!

Many people think putting together a radio show is simple: just a host and someone to run the mixing board. While some shows may operate that way, I’m proud to say that Cruise Control Radio Show is much more than that—it’s a true team effort. Here’s how we bring the show to life, week after week, 52 weeks a year.
He’s seen more dashboards than most folks have seen sunsets. With over 30 years in the automotive jungle, including 16-year safari at the Huffines organization, he’s practically got motor oil running through his veins. When he’s not deciphering the mysteries of torque and horsepower, Don’s likely strumming a guitar, a talent he’s been perfecting since he was knee-high to a lug nut. Now, he’s teamed up with John Ingram to host “Cruise Control” radio show, where they deliver car talk with a side of witty banter, proving that even tire rotations can be hilarious. Just don’t ask him to parallel park your feelings!
He swapped Boston winters for Texas highways in the ’80s and never looked back. With over three decades in the automotive world, John worked his way from sales to General Manager and Managing Partner at John Eagle Honda, where he spent 20 years steering dealerships, deals, and spreadsheets. He’s seen every side of the business, from the showroom floor to the finance office, and lived to tell the tale. Now, armed with a Boston accent and Texas-sized experience, he brings seasoned insight—and plenty of humor—to everything automotive.
With 45 years in audio, Tim Kimsey has seen (and heard) it all. A Grammy winner with multiple Gold and Platinum records, he’s worked everywhere from major studios and film sets to live sound and post-production. These days, he’s the Technical Director for Wheels 570 on KLIF, an IEM mixer for Bethesda Community Church, and a post-production pro for Cross Timbers. If it makes noise, Tim knows how to make it sound right—coffee included (almost).
When it comes to buying your next vehicle, it’s crucial to connect directly with the decision-makers who truly understand your needs.
By choosing to work with the person who runs the dealership, you ensure you’re in trusted hands from start to finish.
Your best interests matter. That’s why it’s essential to partner with a dealer who values transparency and integrity, ensuring you’re treated fairly throughout the entire process.
Simply click on the dealer’s name, and you’ll access their full contact information, including phone numbers and a convenient email feature. You’ll also find direct links to their inventory of pre-owned vehicles, detailed car reviews, and even a map to easily locate the dealership.
This is the smart gateway to finding your next vehicle – one built on trust, transparency, and convenience.
Make sure to tell them Don and Jon sent you!
